Following our recent trends, we woke up late. Half of us eager to go to today’s location were pushing the other half to get ready. But knowing they’d take 19 Millenia, I decided to go get some breakfast. The obvious choice was the 2 for 100 yen churros…. 3 packets of them… along with a salad to balance out my complete lack of vitamins causing my skin to dry up. I got back and finished it all JUST in time before we all got going. We all boarded the metro and headed to some business looking area which was so open and beautiful. It looked like what the Melbourne CBD wanted to look like. We walked for a while, including on a bridge which we found out, only at the very end of it, that it was still under construction. When we finished walking we arrived at a a few big buildings around a garden and some little stores.

Excited to go up Umeda sky tower everyone rushed up a few stories to get some tickets. Neglecting my earlier warnings of a seemingly enormous queue up ahead, they were disappointed to see a line of people worth 20 minutes along with a $20 admission fee. Everyone decided their time was better spent on the basement level of the general complex eating curry. Despite my reasoning that our spending money should be for things like experiencing cool activities like the sky tower instead of clothes, I wasn’t amble to convince everyone to come up. After some more reasoning with Harry outside while the the others ate curry, I was able to sway him to go up the tower, and we eventually convinced beanie to come with us, in spite of his dwindling budget.

We three joined the queue and waited for 20 minutes. We discovered that going up the dedicated elevator and escalator themselves was actually free, and only the sky deck on the top floor had a charge, meaning the others could’ve come up at least part of the way. After waiting ages for the elevator, we were first out and onto the top floor, meaning the famous floating escalator was empty, giving me this shot

Once we reached the roof, the suicide jokes were flying around faster than the wind and we took in the view. It was cloudy at first but then got way more sunny and beautiful after some minutes. We leaned on a rail on one side for a while and pointed out how many helipads were on the surrounding buildings. We eventually got our bearings and headed back down, after waiting for another 20 minute queue for the elevator….

After spending 20 minutes waiting for beanie to take a “piss” we got the train back to the area our hotel was at. Still keen on a haircut, I searched my maps for a place I could go. After awkwardly wrecking my way through a social interaction with someone who speaks not a lick of English, I discovered the price was $88 for a hair cut and I swiftly backed out of the store front. Still searching I found a place called LIM which seemed much more in touch with reality in terms of pricing. The whole place was very interesting. It seemed to be maybe an old warehouse or factory. There were people behind the front desk brewing potions of hair dye in what I imagine Walter whites interpretation of a drug lab sweatshop would look like. With very poor communication skills, I asked for prices was sat down. They took my jacket in a locker and sad me down.
A few minutes later a young guy who spoke a little English came and guided me to a seat where I would then meet my stylist. They were very professional and kind, and it was Aparently very obvious that I was the most foreign object in Japan since the Second World War since they sent me seemingly the only English speaking stylist in the building. In spite of my previous few sentences I was both extremely greatful that they were able to speak English for me, and embarrassed I couldn’t reciprocate the respect by speaking their language. The stylist played with my hair for a while and send me to get my hair washed. It was the same guy who sat me down earlier and we attempted conversation with each other and he was very nice. I then sat down and asked the stylist to do whatever he thought would look best. Interestingly he worked primarily with a big razor blade and his fingers rather than scissors which I thought was super cool. He worked away for a while and in asked him some questions about Japan. Once he was done he sent me to get my hair washed again for some reason…. I was a little confused coz I had done it the night before aswell but oh well, he’s the expert. I went to the front desk to pay and was then escorted to the elevator by my stylist. I was super satisfied as I exited and went back to make dinner for the others.

Looking at the price of the steak there, beanie and I decided to switch from a steak and rice dinner to a curry dinner. Getting home I made everyone put up with my old person music as I thought it would be the perfect atmosphere for cooking. I felt triumphant as the rap loving beanie asked to move the speaker between the two rooms so he could hear better. Given how many people we were cooking for we had to cook two seperate curries in two kitchens which was just as troublesome as it sounds. Hours and hour later dinner was ready and the overcooked potatoes that had become a part of the curry sauce had become distastefully obvious. I went to sleep after a sweet face time call with my beloved darling Natalie.
