Day 9 began in the morning, like most days do. Today we were headed to Fukuoka, but on a much more relaxed schedule. The train rides were only a total of 4 hours and so we were able to get up later and get to the train station with more sleep. For breakfast we went into our beloved lawsons and got some pastries and I saw a hatsune miku branded yogurt.. they just be doing stuff in Japan for the sake of it guess. We boarded one of our trains and before we departed I almost screwed our whole schedule. The station we needed to get off at was called something I can’t remember, so we’re gonna call it fingertinglypingly chan station just for example. When I saw that we were pulling up to fingertinglypingly station 5 minutes early, I thought the train was just early. Turns out fingertinglypingly station, and fingertinglypingly chan station are two distinct stations that are only 3 minutes apart. Long story short we almost didn’t get back on in time and i almost single handed ruined the whole day.
We finally got off the train onto a smaller and slower train which had a very beautiful coastal view out the window.

As we walked out from the station, it was hard not to make fun of the canal city shopping centre, as the writing was written on a door, which was partially blocked by the wall it was insetting… making it look like anal city…

We eventually found our hotel/hostel thingy, and it was we were all shocked because it look like it had been REALLLLLLY expensive to book, however that feeling of cautious excitement was short lived when we got to our room thingies, and we found out it was a weird hostel thingy.
The beds were thick, as wide as a queen mattress, and had really good pillow, and the weirdest part, was that the bed could lay flat or rise up like a sofa using an iPod touch of all things. Just like our excitement of the hotel initially however, the excitement of our new bed was short lived. I discovered that my bag was too big to fit in the designated spot under my bed, so it had to occupy the small 1 by 0.2 meter rectangular space infront of the bed, which was just BARELY enough space to get changed without the bag there. Adding to my annoyance was the 31° room which couldn’t be adjusted as it was shared between 32 other people. The age of the iPod meant it took about 5 seconds to turn on, and the fan, which was also controlled by the iPod did nothing but blow more hot air on me. To top it all off, the bathrooms were all dimly lit and smelled pretty horrible. The sinks were all sensor operated and only spewed hot water which made cleaning my retainers, or anything for the matter a big challenge. Finally, suffering from success, I was too tall to fit into the bed and so my feet had to dangle out into the public hall way, where I could do nothing but hope John ticklefeet didn’t spawn in and tickle my feet
The bed was pretty comfortable though.
Before going to bed, beanie Toby and I went for a little walk around the city to explore and see what was going on. It would be an understatement to mention that Christmas is all the fashion in Japan, and we visited lots of Christmas/octoberfest themed sights and markets. Determined for a souvenir to take home, Toby and beanie leaped at the hot chocolate served in Christmas themed mugs. By this point my feet were cooked and I asked to go back to the hostel for some rest.
